Five years ago I found myself asking a question that I suspect many people still ask today whenever they come across bloggers sharing income reports affiliate earnings or stories about building online businesses from their laptops and kitchen tables and spare bedrooms because from the outside it all looked surprisingly simple and yet strangely difficult to understand at the same time.

At that stage I had no idea how search engines worked no understanding of affiliate marketing and certainly no roadmap showing me how one article could eventually turn into income months or even years after it was published.
